How Do I Join? Call us on 01754 610033 so that an advisor can discuss all the different classes with you and make sure you go to the most suitable ones. You can trial our classes for up to 3 weeks on a pay as you go basis to make sure you enjoy them!
What age can my child join? We have pre-school classes suitable for children from 18 months old, although these classes require an adult chaperone. Further to this, children may join our main school and participate in Ballet only from 3 years. Musical Theatre and Drama classes start from 5 years old and all other classes start at aged 4 years.
Do I have to stay with my child? We request that during the initial 3 week trail period you remain in our parent waiting area as a reassurance for your child. You may wish to use this time to complete our registration form and terms and conditions.
What does my child need to wear? For pre-school classes we offer an LJSI uniform complete with dance shoes which can be purchased from our shop. Alternatively pupils may wear a tight fitting T-Shirt and leggings/jogging trousers with bare feet. Long hair is required to be tied back. For main school (aged 3 years and above) each dance discipline has it’s own uniform which can also be purchased from our shop. Musical Theatre and Drama pupils are required to wear the LJSI tracksuit.
Is my child required to participate in shows, exams or competitions? As an all-inclusive school we pride ourselves on offering every pupil the opportunity to participate in our bi-annual show. Even the shyest of children are encouraged and supported through the rehearsal process. Our annual Reward & Recognition Ceremony is a chance to celebrate the uniqueness of every pupil. The first part of the evening is in the style of a professional showcase whilst the second is a red carpet awards ceremony with over 60 categories that recognise special achievements, dedication and hard work.
The IDTA has recently amalgamated with the Royal Academy and has been accredited with a cross curricular framework which incorporates 4 of our dance genres. Ballet: Modern: Tap: Theatre Craft. Exams are an important part of the pupils progression pathway to gaining recognised qualifications and as such the IDTA are now able to award UCAS points to any of the afore mentioned dance genres from grade 3 upwards.
J’s Stage Crew is a subsidairy of LJSI and is purely a competition school. Pupils must already be a member of LJSI and participate in either Street or Disco and have taken an IDTA exam.
I want my child to join but I’m worried about the fees? We offer payment plan options which we would be happy to discuss with you in confidence.
